| Job description | BREAKDOWN OF DAY:
Days: - 3 days a week = 22 hours (week days) depending on my timetable, may need extra days near deadlines in January and May. Timetable changes in February Start time – Depends on timetable either 8.50am or 9.50am (If you travel with from home and back you are not paid this time but is free, will need to meet me 50 minutes before starting time. Finishing time: - If start at 8.50pm you will finish at 4pm or if start at 9. 50am you finish at 5pm Paid lunch break: - No lunch break you have lunch with me as I need assenting and you are paid for this time Class times are 2 days a week are between 3-4 hours per day, rest of the is spent supporting me complete assignments Duties PERSONAL CARE: 1. To assist me with personal care such as washing, dressing and toileting. 2. To assist and support me with eating and drinking at university. 3. To wipe my face at university as and when required. 4. As I use an electric wheelchair, open doors and move obstacles out of the way for me at university. 5. To help me operate the lift at university. 6. Assist in communication with peers and lecturers. 7. The Health and Safety procedures will be provided. Know these procedures i.e. where to go when the fire alarm goes off and if needs be walk me down the stairs. 8. Also be aware for cars when we go outside e.g. lunchtime. This might also include assisting me in a manual wheelchair ACADEMIC ASSISTANCE: 1. Note-taking at university. This is done on my laptop 2. Setting up the recorder for the lecture. 3. Organizing folders. These should be organized logically and be made easily accessible from the desktop. 4. Organising time schedule and diary. This helps me to remember what needs to be done, as I can not make the notes myself at the university. 5. Scribe any written work done at the University. 6. To set up the computer e.g. log in and out, and to put the laptop away after use. 7. Set up my adapted computer equipment e.g. joystick, buddy buttons and footswitch. 8. Give me support and assistance with software programmers. This is done in order to speed up the process. These include scribing, and clicking the mouse buttons on my command. Also help with the smaller detail as this is difficult to control with my adapted joystick 9. Dictate speech to fellow students and lecturers. |
