| Job description | Position/Role:
This is a permanent role as a PHP Web Application Developer (Mid-level / intermediate), the role will report directly to the Operations Manager within the company. The ideal candidate needs to have ambition and drive with a willingness to learn quickly. He/she will be working together alongside our Senior Developer on various projects, predominantly for the financial sector. Technical Skills This position is for an object-oriented aware PHP developer with at least two years of commercial experience, familiar with working within small project teams on web based applications utilising the LAMP stack. Minimum 2 years commercial experience creating sound object-oriented web applications using PHP5 and MySQL. (including email and social media applications) Sound knowledge of creating and optimising SQL queries to be executed against a MySQL server. Demonstrable understanding of the principles behind the MVC design pattern and how this can be applied to web applications. Good working knowledge of front-end development (HTML, CSS, Javascript,jQuery). A familiarity with using SVN, Subversion control Logging and tracking bugs, as well as an understanding of QA processes Some experience in working with open source Advantageous Experience with building phone applications Knowledge in building trading platform web applications Personal Skills Attention to detail Willingness to work extra hours on short notice Good understanding of business needs of the operation and to be able to respond accordingly A demonstrable hunger for personal and professional development and growth as a professional software developer. Desired Skills Further knowledge of other design patterns and their appropriate use. Zend Certified Engineer and/or MySQL certified DBD. Familiarity with working in an agile development environment Good working knowledge of Unix/Linux command line shells. Other requirements: The candidate must have the necessary legal status to be able to work onsite at our offices in London, England. Where a work permit or visa is in operation, that should not expire within 12 months from the date of application. Clear spoken English.
